I am new to the P2 workflow having just come over from 10 years of DigiBeta shooting. I will be offloading my 32 GB cards using a PC and HD log. The project format is DVCPro50. What hard drives would anyone suggest. They need to be rugged given the fact that I will be away from the big cities though will have access to electricity. I have looked at the Dell Power Vault but may be too slow? Any suggestions?

I am a huge fan of g-technology hard drives. Specifically their g-raid2 models. I have a stack of them I use in the field and as archive drives. I highly recommend them.

I'd use USB-powered drives, like the WD Passport. Copy to 2 drives. Lacie also makes a ruggedized USB drive.

Also, shoot in 720 or 1080. You can always dumb it down...but you can't smart it up.

In Africa I offloaded the P2 cards to my old TiPb in bumpy Landrovers and then when in camp used two g-raid drives. Agree with Jim, they're great.
