HV30 is the newer model of the HV20. HV30 has a few upgrades over the hv20 including an improved zoom toggle, 30p mode, and the hot shoe cover is tethered to the camera.
I think the HV30 is cheaper, so i'd go for that.

There aren't a lot of differences. All-black design, a multi-angle Vivid LCD screen, and the ability to capture in 30P mode.

well now the HV30 is cheaper on Amazon.
