OK, so if you remember, I was having issue's with the powermac G5 a few days ago. Got a LOT of good info here, but unfortunately, nothing seemed to fix the problem. Turns out it was the logic board failing.

Anyway, I found a great deal on a lightly used 24" core2duo Imac, so I'm now using it.

I pulled the hard drive's from my G5, and I'm wondering how I'm going to bring in everything from my old main drive to the new Imac.

I'm looking into migration assistant, but my powermac G5 is not a computer anymore, it's just an external hard drive connected via USB.

So, starting it in firewire target mode is not possible. I can manually copy stuff over, but I don't exactly know what needs to be copied over as far as applications, application support folder, plugins, receipts, etc are concerned.

I have most of my original disc's for apps, but I'm sure I've lost a few along the way, and my Final Cut Studio 2 disc's are at the office an hour away. I only get out there once every couple of weeks.

Any help?

I think I got it figure out.

Migration assistant lets me choose the external... I just missed it the first time around.

If that doesn't work, try this software--

You'll need your FCP2 auth codes from the manual in order to use it once it's copied over.
Just copied my entire MBP over to a new 24" iMAC (totally rocks!) and had to dig out all my non-standard app books for auth codes.
