Iv'e heard numerous nightmare stories about transferring footage into FCP. Is it really that difficult? I am trying to deciede between a sony cx-12, hc9, or sr12. I know the hc9 i can logg because it records to minidv...but i really just wanted to keep it simple and use a memory card or HD...so thats my dilemma....any suggestion, opinions, etc..?

I just recently used my Sony HDR-SR11 (smaller disk than the SR12...), and was able to transfer in the AVCHD formated material on my Intel based Mac, using Final Cut Express v4.0.1.

The material happend to be 'audio only, so the 'video' was just pointed to a very dark corner and I have not looked at the resulting video transcoding to see if there are any problems. I'll be doing that for a shoot on the weekend...

You mean Roxio Toast 9 Titanium? Can it convert to QT files?
