How do I go about reformatting my hard drive I use to edit with? I got a wierd message on my screen when I powered up my computer today that said something like my FCP drive could not be repaired and that I should back it up and format the disc asap. So I am in the process now of backing those files up. Some of those files I don't need anymore and wanted to trash them but it won't even allow me to trash them! I get an error message when trying to drag the file to the trash!

Once everything is backed up, how do I go about formatting the disc?

thanks

Open finder and click on applications tab. There you will see a folder labeled "Utilities." There you will see an app called "Disc Utilities." Open the app and select what drive, and select erase. I think that this will only work on external hard drives.

hmmmmm my problem drive is my second internal drive. If I can't use that what do you suggest I do?

Disc Utility will work with any drive that isn't the boot volume...
