Hello,

I have just purchased a brand new Canon HV30 (PAL version) and when I shot HDV I can clearly see random white noise either in the LCD screen and and in the recorded footage.

Please, download this original clip and see it for yourselve. If you go frame by frame, there are white spots around the eye of the guy. Do you think I have a defective CMOS sensor?

Thank you very much for your help.

It won't let me watch the video, but i'm guessing you're having issues with gain. Try shooting outdoors in full daylight and see if you have the same problems.

This video will explain how to control gain in the HV20

I'm sorry, the free rapidshare hosting only lets you download the video 10 times. By the way, I got the camcorder replaced because it was clearly defective. The MPEG-2 codec introduced some kind of white dots (like moskito noise) when recording. My new HV30 works ok. Strange though.

Anyway, thanks for you interest and i'll take a look at that mov tutorial.

Thanks!
