Hi Everyone,

Can you recommend a high-quality, but lightweight tripod (light enough for frequent travel) for the HVX200?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Just to get the ball rolling, let's say up to $1000-1200. Really, money isn't a huge concern as long as it's going to be a sound investment - something I can use again and again for years to come, etc.

BUT - it has to be something that won't make me throw my back out if I'm lugging it through an airport. You get the idea...

I have never thought of it in terms of weight, but do have some suggestions...

Fluid heads are heavy but needed if you want smooth diagonal pans. - My recommendation is Sacthler DV6SB. Cartoni Focus has also received good reviews. I do not suggest Bogen/Manfrotto if you want somthing that you can use for years to come. The best way to save weight is to get a fluid head that just covers your camera payload (but may not make sense if you want to uses it on other, heavier heads).

Legs are the place where you can save weight - I recommend the Carbon Fiber Miller Solo legs. Either way, go for Carbon Fiber to keep the weight down.

I have a Sachtler DV6SB and Miller Solo legs. Small, relatively ilght and very portable (I can take them hiking).
