Has anyone out there tried to jamsync a timecode slate through the TC rca jack on an HMC150? Is it possible to do that? Or is it just for syncing to other HMC150 cameras? Can you sync to an HPX170 or HVX200 for that matter? I know I would be setting the TC to freerun on all synced devices. Anyone with input or experience? thanks,

The 150 outputs/inputs standard LTC so if your timecode slate accepts or outputs LTC, it should jam just fine.

The 170 or 200 cannot accept LTC so they can't be sync'd with a 150.

Just to let you know, I've synced a Denecke TS-3 Timecode slate and it worked flawlessly. 1/4" jack to RCA LTC on the HMC150, set to freerun. I am completely stoked and ready for double system sound work.

That's great news... can you explain your workflow.. this might be important to me in January.. and I'm assuming you can sych multiple cams? I have a 4 cam 150 shoot in January... and there's no P2 in the mix... NONE.

You can sync the 150 to any camera that uses LTC (including other 150s). However, be aware that you might lose a frame or more of sync when using the 150 as the recipient camera rather than as the master camera.

Mmm.. that's not too bad. It's really just kind of important that they are around the same TC as the cams will be running around all over the place, but ocassionally come together and capture mulit-cam events...

I appreciate your constant help Barry. Did you pick up a 170 or a 150 or both?

I read an earlier post that someone was able to syncup a Denecke TS-3 to an HMC 150 and that's great news. What I am contemplating is syncing up the following:

1. Denecke TS-C timecode slate
2. HMC 150
3. Edirol R4-pro digital recorder

I want to move my audio recording "off camera" and on to the external 4-track Edirol. What I would like to do is "slate" every scene with a particular timecode, and have the Edirol and HMC-150 use the slate value as well.

Is this possible?

Thanks,
Randy

Yes, it worked great, I slave both the camera and audio recorder (in my case I've used Tascam & Sound Devices recorders) to the slate and sync the files to the timecode in Final Cut which is just selecting both audio and video files and right-clicking. Make sure to name the files the same scene & take #'s and have a really good script supervisor or AD.

cheers,
