We recently shot a music video on the HVX200. The record label asked us if we could convert the video to either Digital BetaCam or BetacamSP?

We are unaware about either of these formats, for we've never aired anything on television before!

What should we do about getting the video converted!?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Betacam SP and DigiBeta are the sony equivalent of panasonic's Standard Definition DVCPRO 50 (720x486, 60i, 4:2:2 colorspace). If you have the proper outputs on your NLE (blackmagic or kona card...etc) you can rent a digiBeta deck. If not, you can bring your files to an Edit suite and lay to tape there.

Either way, you are going to have to output to tape, which is slightly different in each NLE. No matter where you output, you need to make sure your chroma levels and luminance levels are broadcast safe. Most Broadcast stations will reject your tape if the IRE is too high.

This brings up an interesting question. What does one do if they need to deliver footage via a specific type of digital tape, and there is no place to rent a deck nearby? Are there any places that rent such decks via the web (meaning the unit is shipped to you, then shipped back)?

Ask the label WHO the tape is going to. They generally have a post facility process your video (on tape...), so you might be able to avoid the hassle and generational loss of tape by providing them with an uncompressed file of the video to work from.
