Hi,
I've been a user of Premiere for a year or so, then jumped to Sony Vegas about 5 years ago and i've been very happy with it, however i've decided to make the change to a mac and FCP.
Is there anything i should know coming from Vegas?
Anyone done the same, if so what was your experience of switching?

about the only thing I did, coming from Vegas was change one key in Final Cut (change the key "s" as the add edit function, so you can slice or separate footage where ever the timeline cursor is at on the timeline) and I bought the program USB overdrive so I can use my scroll wheel to zoom in and out of the timeline.

Cool, yeah those are pretty intuitive controls in Vegas, i reckon i'll do the same.

Yeah there's a couple of ways to go with it. One is map all of the FCP controls to match what you know in Vegas. Only drawback to this is you'll be in trouble if you ever edit in a facility or on someone elses computer- say for a paid gig. I think it pays to unlearn what you've learned and start from scratch with FCP- as far as control/workflow. It's not really that different but you'll do better applying your skills as an editor rather than an application driver.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking, i'd like to take my apple pro certified tests in FCP in the future, so i guess, it's out with the old and in with the new.
I'm gonna shoot a short festive horror film to practice editing and grading with Final Cut Studio too, i find the best way to learn is real world practice.
