If I shoot 720P at 60FPS and then shoot the same scene at 1080p at 30FPS what differences will I see?

Am I correct in assuming that 60 Frames in a second will give me much more information to work with? Will the image simplly be smaller?

I was wondering this as well.... If you are shooting for the web or a standard definition broadcast is there any advantage to shooting 1080i over 720p?

Obviously on a computer screen the 1080 is a larger image but what about HDTV's? Does a video shot at 720p look significantly different than 1080i on a 1080i TV? and vice versa?

The only time I've really used 1080i to my advantage over 720 is when I zoomed in slightly to crop the image without losing quality for 720p and 480i output.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it all.. I think I'm getting closer.

Let me ask this..

If I shoot a video at 1080p 60 FPS and I also shoot the same scene at 1080p 30 FPS what will the differences be?

I think the answer to your question depends on what your intended goal is. What's the footage going to be used for? Is your finished product SD or HD? Broadcast, web based, or for DVD.

1080i gives you more resolution (and is a bit sharper IMO), 720p 60 gives you more discrete frames and looks a lot smoother than 30P. But if your shooting a feature why would you want either (not that you are but my point is that it all depends on your final goal).

I think there is a good section in Barry's book about it all.

But what if you shoot 1080/60i and the final outputs needs to be broadcast AND web? Does it suffice to work in a DV NTSC sequence and change the field order before exporting?
