It's a shame that this great camera is 30p...

Here's a direct link for the latest Laforet:

http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2008/11/26/7-days-7-shoots-eos-5d-mkii/#more-1591

Still for lazy people, a higher res version is here:

As well, two new clips...

...yet from Asia:

...and another one from Copenhagen:

EDIT -- OK, it does seem the Laforet clip is 2/3 days old news -- already hidden here (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=1479051&postcount=57). The two last ones are fresh new though. I'd suggest you may have this compilation webpage for 5D MKII footage in (your) consideration, anyway. Unless you want to make of its footage output a minor event.

That doesn't look cinematic. It looks like video.

Maybe our standards are not so close, my friend. Robert Bresson once asked to the press (wondering him about the bad public reception over one of his movies @Cannes) -- it became famous the motto: What public? Which one?

Still about film-looks... It's not excuse now with so many tools at your hand. We can go wherever we want at post. Just for giving an example.

overcranked rides nicerYes, the 30p slowdowned to 24fps can provide a nice and useful trick.

This camera is amazing. For those criticizing the "video look", can we see some of your work so we can tell what an expert you are and maybe criticize your work a bit? Bravo to the people that went out and invested in the future. Youy've got a great camera and a lot of the work surfacing out there looks very impressive indeed. The whinners will be left behind, thats for sure. Emanuel keep up with your contributions. The people who can't contribute in a positive manner get out of the way please, move along.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for the english lesson. By the way proper writing calls for capital letters at the start of each sentence. I am embracing the technology 100%. Its future looks very good. And there is a difference between a fanboy and a real pro, although some people find it difficult to recognize. Opinions are something much different that constant complains while others actually go out and create something great with all the limitations they might encounter in the process. Again, congratulations to all the people that are going forward, you are way ahead of the game.

Emanuel keep up with your contributions.

(...)

Happy New Year!John,

:dankk2: for your warm regards and attitude.

(Emanuel :-)

As matter of fact, it is not my own footage (just a link/sample as the thread's title suggests), even though I would be proud if it was mine. There's a POV there -- that's what most(ly) counts whatever or wherever your cinematic look feels.

Beyond that (POV -- something not so non-rare over 99% of any clip posted in these sort of boards), the point here is around an interesting workaround from the 30p liability ( ? ... / ... ) :

The slowdown tip to 24p whenever will be possible, it can offer a helpful cinematic tool.
