Buying Nikon lenses

Hi everyone!

I'm thinking about purchasing some nikon lenses to go with my Red Rock Adapter. I was wondering if anyone on here had any opinions on nikon lenses. I'm a little confused myself, are they meant for photography or are there nikon lenses out there meant for motion picture (like for hvxs or film cameras)?

Or does it not matter at all wat they're meant for? Does it matter even a little?

Nikkor and Nikon lenses are and were designed and built for use on still cameras but they function perfectly well on film cameras and video cameras.

There's a company that is modifying Nikkor lenses to be more "cine" style, but it's not necessary for normal use.

I love my Nikon lenses. I've always shot my stills on film, on my Nikon F3, and as a guy who's passion is video/film (but can't afford to shoot on film), every time I would look through my Nikon F3, I would imagine how it would be to be able to constant frames with DOF that shallow. Saturday was my first experience with the Letus Extreme, and it was amazing!

Chris, so do people ever use Nikon lenses on motion picture film cameras?

Search the site. There is a ton of information on which lenses people reccommend. I personally like Nikkor Primes and have 24, 50, 85, 135 and 200. Faster is better (lower f-stop).

My first Nikon was a 1965 "F" and I still have it (and an F3.)

There are PL to Nikkor lens adapters for motion picture cameras so yeah some people use Nikkor lenses on those cameras and of course the Red One can be had with a Nikkor lens mount.
