Hi all, I have an HV30, MacPro and Final Cut 6 (Studio suite) and would like some direction on 30p editing. In other words, I want to shoot using the 30p setting and I know it doesn't actually shoot that way (it records to 60i). I want non-interlaced footage for the web and maybe other media but what would be the best workflow for this?

I've searched and there are many various topics on this but I did not find anything more specific as this. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Should this go in the FCP forum?

you shouldn't have to do anything to the footage if you shoot 30p.
Every frame should be solid. Because you are working with 60 interlaced fields, 30 progressive frames divides in to 60 evenly.

Set up your project for HDV1080 60i and when your finished export to whatever size you want with progressive frames.

I haven't done it myself so correct me if I'm wrong.

FCP 6 is pretty good at this. use easy setup, capture, then make a new timeline (sequence) & start editing. if FCP says the media doesn't match the timeline settings, "would you like to change the settings to match" click "OK" & you are good to go

I've gone between 1080i60 HDV, 1080i60 DVCProHD, 1080p24 in FCP & rarely run into any issues.
