Here are some on-line and/or brick-and-mortar stores I've had personal experience with (whether myself or through other companies, customers):
B&H Photo (http://www.bhphoto.com), Zotz Digital (http://www.zotzdigital.com), Mwave (http://www.mwave.com), and ZGC (http://www.zgc.com) to name just a few (vendor's names are linked to their websites).
B&H Photo is a standard in the industry. So far very reliable but also typical of larger establishments: once they processed an order of mine even though more than one of the items were out of stock and I could not change my order at all. On the other hand I've had very successful RMA product returns with B&H Photo, which is in my opinion, very indicative of a company's service. Definitely will continue to shop at B&H Photo. Their website is one of the best configured around for shopping.
Zotz Digital is also a great place but I have to admit, sometimes I'll overlook them for a few reasons others might find more attractive than I do. Before I go on, let me just say that hands down Zotz Digital has excellent customer service. They really take care of you and if you'd like to establish a relationship with a vendor than Zotz Digital is it.
The only issues I have with Zotz is with their website, which isn't always up to date, and you can't order over the web. Searching is somewhat difficult. You have to call or email for practically every price quote or to see if they carry a certain product. This can get burdensome if you're simply shopping around for prices. Then again, this is why they are so strong with customer service. If you're looking to buy a camcorder or other large purchase, go with Zotz.
Mwave or Multiwave is an outstanding place to buy computer gear. Shipping can be high but I have never had a problem whatsoever with Mwave and this is over the course of several years with different companies and for different customers. Fairly large selection of hardware at competitive prices.
ZGC is another vendor who insists on establishing a close customer relationship. No online ordering. Extremely helpful; email communication is always at a lightning pace.
Can anyone recommend other vendors?
Anyone purchase from Adorama in New York? Were you happy with their service? I've never purchased from them before and wanted to double check with others before I dropped any cash on the company. They look alright by accounts in other forums.
