I have managed to make a mirror in 3ds max whihc is relecting the environment fine. Here is where the problem starts. I have some recorded live fire whihc i have keyed out in after effects. Is there anyway i can bring this footage in to 3dsmax so that it is also reflected in the mirror? I would use generated fire in 3ds max, but i must use this footage.

Thanks for your help

I don't know why noone has answered this but, i can be done fairly simple.

What you wan't to do is basically to bring a videoclip, with alpha into Max.

First you will want to export two videofiles from AE. They should be the same size. One is the actual video of the fire (no keying needed). The next is a matte pass, which would be a black/white video designating the transparent areas with black. Normally you can select "matte" as rendering mode in the key effect.

You then bring the first clip into the Max material editor as a diffuse map on an empty material. Max treats video as bitmaps, so you just use a bitmap map.
Then you do the same with the other clip, only in the opacity slot.

Last you add the material to a plane object in Max. This will give you a nice 2d fire mapped on a plane, that can be transformed (and reflected) as any other object in Max.
