I'll be posting my works in progress here.

Not sure what I'm going to do for this fest. I'll be using Vue and likely C4D.

I'm thinking of maybe doing some images of Hell, Afterlife type of thing.
Lake of Fire maybe and or an underground caves and lava/fire type deal.
Possibly a character of the horned beast himself if I have time.
Maybe use some matte paintings, not sure what method I'll use yet.

I'm going to have a look at the lake of Fire first and see what render times I'm looking at for a breif animation as well as getting a good overall image down.
I'll be trying different flame avi billboards with animated alphas, framerate and time offsets.

I'll post some concept grabs as they develop.

Allllrighty then. Here we go.

As a"hell of an inspiration" (pun intended) look at Dantes Divine Comedy and the 7 circles of hell/Inferno.

Especialy at the paintings of Gustave Dorč on that topic but also to his "Idylls of the King” illustrations.

There's enough material in there to keep me going for years.
Gustave_Doré...yikes.

Great post Frank. ("Great post Postmaster" sounded funny.)

I'm tempted to try this one too. Yikes there's some good stuff in there.

Sounds really cool gord. You could do a million things with this. I'll be posting my wip thread soon.

Great idea Raptor. Looking forward to what you come up with. Glad you're doing a WIP too.

Thanks guys. Looking forward to seeing you in here Josh.
Jump in too Tower if you have some free time now that your aircraft is finisihed, hint hint. :)

Here's my test of the Lake of Fire. Just one layer in now for the test. In the very very early stages right now. Quite a bit to do yet. The lake will be more ocean like with more layers of fire. Also need some rocky landscapes and some people in the lake.

So I'm going ahead with the idea. Stay tuned.

This is a fantastic Idea Raptor! I'm looking forward to this thread!

Anhar

might even inspire me to get back into 3d again

Hey Anhar. Well you may not be actively doing 3D at the moment but the knowledge and interest of it is still there so I have no doubts you'll be sitting down again before long and knocking something out.

Besides I heard you were moving over to Maya which means your still at it on some level.
So I don't have any doubts about that.

Glad things are going well for you though. Can't beat that.
Drop in anytime.

I need some chroma footage of a character from the waste up doing arm movements.
Oooh boy, time to give bro a call and get that green screen setup again.
Unless anyone can shoot about 100 seconds for me, hehe.
Otherwise if I do it, it may feel weird watching myself burning in hell. But, hey, what can I do? :)

Now it's a River of Fire. Don't ask me what I'm doing, I don't know.
I'm still working on it, whatever it is.

I'm not saying this will be in my entry, and if it is that there will be a big UFO in it, maybe. And I know the tank textures are repetitive. It's basically due to lack of time (none) and budget (none) haha. But then again, this may not be my entry, or maybe, I don't even know, lol.

The fire scene was too cpu intensive to pull off for a fest. Still may go for an art still yet. I'd like to get something in, but I can't say for sure yet.

Good luck guys on getting your entry in as well.

//Yeah, it's not that great is it. It looks better in video though with a dolly shot.
Not a great still by any means though. Well, that's life, haha.

This concept reminds me of Harry Turtledove's "World War" series. He writes alternative history stories. At the end of WWII, aliens invade.

Cool stuff Raptor!

hehe. Yeah, I'll do a WW2 sci fi yet if it kills me, lol. Spits chasing a UFO? cmon, that's where it's at. In this sequence I had a P40c formation flyby but the motion blur was off. I could maybe have done it multipass and add a post linear blur but then again that's more time and , ya know. I mean, I could spend months on just 20 seconds worth of footage right? lol. It's not like we're a studio with 20 guys working shifts fer christ sakes, hehe.
We take what we can get and do the best we can. That's about it. Someday, someday, I'll get those spits flying again. I'm thinking once I retire, I'll be set to work on it, haha. :)
