So, I'm about 95% that I want to bite the bullet and upgrade from my Canon XL1s to the HMC150. My biggest concern is really will my editing system be able to support the footage that I get off the HMC? If I have to upgrade, I need to figure out what and start putting that into my budget.

I'm thinking selling my Canon XL1s to put toward the cost of the HMC, but I can't be without a camera for more than a week or two because it's how I earn a living! Without a camera, I'll have to start selling fruit on street corners or go back to my old job of IT Administration *shudder* (Frankly, I'd rather sell the fruit).

So... here's my current system:

MacBook Pro 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo
1.5 Gig 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Final Cut Pro 5.1.4
various external harddrives connected via USB 2.0

I'm thinking, based on reading, that I AT LEAST have to upgrade to FCP 6? What else?

Thanks,

Yeah, the most expensive part of the whole undertaking will be to upgrade to FCP 6 (I wanted to do that anyway, but it means raising a bit more cash).

Good to know that you think my laptop will work fine (and yeah, RAM is cheap)... at least I'm hoping it will... I don't want to have to shell out for a new MacBook... that would be costly.

Thanks. :dankk2:
