View Full Version : Reserve your top 4 spots

Is there anyway to automatically reserve the top 4 spots in each film's thread, so those are set aside for BTS, poster, etc?
A lot of us use those spots well, but I've found some people forget about the need to have those spots open as the film progresses, so that all up front discussion of the movie and production is on the front page of the thread, nstead buried behind comments from everyone else.
It's probably not possible with the system set up the way it is, so maybe we should just give a reminder to anyone posting a thread for their film to reserve the slots.

I know, and a lot of us do that, but some guys dont and lose that valuable real estate cuz they didn't think of it.

i'm pretty sure everything could fit into one big post if you wanted it to.
it's just easier to link to when you keep different categories in different posts.

There is a maximum of 7 pics that can be linked per post. So, it is important to have at least a few spaces reserved. I was one of those ones that forgot to reserve enough space last festival. But, I think this thread should do the trick of reminding people to secure enough real estate.

Good reminder. Real estate is valuable around here at fest time.

Which is great if everyone else is asleep. With the time constraints on consecutive postings, someone may (and it frequently happens) slip in a post in the middle of your reserves. Sometimes it is innocent, someone wanting to wish well or whatever and other times it is someone though not malicious per say, trying to jack up the rhythm or flow of the thread.
Perhaps the answer is for the OP to contact a MOD about re-arranging the order of the top 4.

Order can't be re-arranged, but the offending posts could be deleted.

This is true, expecially during Flow.

I don't think anyone intentionally makes it so you can't get your reserve. Sometimes threads pop up and people don't reserve. We aren't supposed to wait.
Think about how many posters are on here. How many times are two posts created at the same time. This is like a highway that all converges in one location. Overlap is bound to happen.
Last fest someone jumped in before I grabbed my slots. I kindly asked them if they could remove the post and repost. And they did just that.
You can always be nice and ask.
As for flow and rhythm. There is never good flow. We all mess every thread up in one way or another. But since we spend a good portion of our lives here on the board. We need to have some fun.
If your thread gets out of control, you could ask people to stay on task. :)

UH OH I have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe I screwed up, what is real estate and resreving slots?
Where do I find this information?
Thanks,

When make a thread for your movie, respond to your post about 3-4 times. In each response, try to make a note about what you plan to put there.
1st POST is usually TITLE, POSTER, SYNOPSIS, BASIC CREW
2nd POST can be for CAST and CREW photos resumes, etc
3rd POST for Behind the scenes photos, video etc
4th POST screen shots, production journal
This way all of the information for your movie is self contained. Someone coming to your page for the first time can go to the first page and get all of the relevent info outside of comments and chatter immediately.
There is no set order for the posts by the way, no rules, just what people usually tend to do. Check out a few other thread and you'll get the idea.

Puckthemad,
Thanks! I was wondering how you did that. So I will do it in Lossfest.
