Sweeeeet!
Are you still in Brazil?
Tom Marshall

Brazil
Umm... somewhat... related... Brazil was playing on cable the other day (The Terry Gilliam movie) and MAN, that was a weird movie...
Anyway, please continue with your thread, Drew.

I've only seen the first 45 minutes of Brazil. Not sure whatever happened to the rest.
Speaking of unfinished films... I still need to see the last 30 minutes of Barry Lyndon and then I'm complete with my Kubrick films.
.....and on another related note, this film is so far from finished it doesn't even have a plot.

Still no idea on the script. A few possible concepts kicking around but nothing much. I'm going to spend a lot of time thinking of a premise that really inspires me, so this "lack of ideas" isn't worrying me.

You can do it Drew. I'm onto my 4th rewrite right now tryign to fit the theme, so think of it this way: you're still conceptualizing and saving yourself a bit of work. And then all of a sudden you'll get a flash of brilliance and boom you'll have a nice complete script that only needs polishing...
damn. i almost envy you.

Rodney -- Thanks for the motivation. I think the concept should get the most attention, so that's what I'm trying to do. I wouldn't envy a person with writer's block though. :)

Shooting on the Red. (made that joke for my first two films thinking it was impossible but now we actually are)
Still trying to keep the budget at gas + food. Seems to be getting harder. I'm shooting in Houston (3 hours away) so it'll be a good test of my producer/organization skills.

We will be moved in to Austin as of the second week in February. Don't know where yet.
We want to spend about $800-$900, have a 70lb pitbull, beagle, and two cats. Want yard. Want to be closer to downtown / congress or campus rather than boonies.
Any leads are appreciated.
My GF got a job there. Hence the move.
Austin rawks. Looking forward to shooting / hanging with y'all.

I am from Texas. Lived there 25 years, Austin for 6 of those. I have a Texas tattoo on my right arm. Texas is very clean, very polite. But a bit stuffy except for Austin.
Clean and polite might not seem like such a big deal, but they are once you've lived a few different places that are remarkably neither of those two things.
I just saw the NY under you're name. We lived on Galveston Island for a few years back in the 80's. We made it over to Austin and the hill country a few times. It is one place I would move back too.

New Orleans is my fav. But the GF and I both like Austin.
To quote The Dead Milkmen:
"I loved it in Austin,
I wanted to stay.
Cheap rent and Lonestar beer,
Lots of places to play."

Hey Jack,
Can't help you with downtown locations, but Luis Caffesse might be a good resource. If you want to be a bit north and save on rent, Will Gibson lives in a nice complex. He's off of Braker on 183 and it feels like it's not even in the city.
Justin, (Edgen) and his GF just moved to Lakeway, and I think they dig it being closer to the lake over there. Although I don't know what the rent is over there, probably pricier being closer to the water.
I'm in Cedar Park, (boonies) but I've got small kiddos and I'm doing the suburb thing. Although I'm about 21 miles or so from downtown.
Best thing though? Rogan is also moving to Austin!
cheers,
Jon

Jack, I'll be at the barbecue, but without exciting updates.
I'm a DVXFest dropout. :(
I recently decided to graduate high school a year early, so I'm taking 11 classes now instead of 5. On top of that, I don't have excess money to spend on a short.
I'll be making this short in September probably, because I'm shooting a documentary all summer.
