You know what I'm talking about, the first time you opened the box on yours, carefully separating the innards until you saw it there, still wrapped in its foam.

True story. *I had ordered it for Saturday delivery. *It was about 9:30 that Saturday morning, and I hadn't quite gotten up yet. *My girlfriend started getting a little frisky; I was happy to oblige . . . when a few minutes later, with animal-like perception, I heard footsteps leading to the front door. *I was halfway there before the knock, leaving a bewildered young miss behind.

It occurs to me that I ran the risk, in all my levels of excitement, of getting quite confused and kissing the UPS guy, but fortunately for all involved, that didn't happen. *But moments later, there I was, in pajamas on the living room floor, tearing at the package like a kid on Christmas -- Christmas in June. *Oh, the glow, the glow! *Rapture! *

Anyone else have a similar moment?

LOL

Exactly. Yes. Here is my story:

It was a hot October day. Too hot. Africa Hot. The kind of heat that makes a woman's, er, sorry. Anyway, I raced home upon news that the UPS man had dropped off a package.

I came in through the back door, where the garage is, and there she was. Sitting atop the kitchen counter in all her glory. I tried to be delicate, but ripped her open. The styrofoam barriers were no match as I had delt with these types of protective measures before.

I could just spy the DVX encircled between the soft foam and two small peices of tape. I cut them in one swift turn. It reminded me of cutting my son loose from his mother. The umbilicle cord releasing him into the world of dry land.

I held the DVX up high aboveme and shouted "FUCKING A!" with a capital A. Finally.

To think I almost fell victim to the darkside.

That'd be funny -- a gag movie about rival DVXers and XL1ers. *Gang wars. Hey! *Anyone up for it?

I'm picturing something Python-esque.

Hordes of XL1s and DVXs. Look! The XL1ers are changing out their lenses and have longer range shots with their 16x zooms (explosions around us)!

But then we pull the trump card and start using 24p. They all start moving in a slower, kind of jittery motion and we swoop in and clobber 'em.
