I shot this with the Nikon D90 and a 35mm F/1.4 lens. Only one candle was used.

I did balance the camera on a jellybean container. So the image jumps a bit..

But the blacks came out great and no noise.....

Vmeo screwed up the last few shots..

Do you have a UV-filter on? It seams to flare from the candle and reflected onto the UV.

looks like a normal lens flare to me though. great test, but did you shoot on auto? why?

Yes... I left the UV filter on...... I dropped this lens a few times and the Filter is stuck on it.... I will try to remove it and do a few more tests and see if that solves the lens flare issue.

Wow, this is great.

By the way, the first picture got me concerned about your son and smoking. =)

I used the Morgan codec.. Settings on the camera.. ISO 200 or 400.. I cn't remember which. F1.4 shutter at 1/50th....

Settings for the codec were default..

Are you aware that the settings for stills (ISO, shutter) isn't affecting the auto (or locked auto) settings in live view?
