I have a question about working with 24p footage from the hmc. I have been using Toast 9 to transcode to pro res. When I transcode, I notice that I can't just select 24 as the frame rate otherwise the audio is unsynched a little. I have to manually type in 23.98

I was wondering would any similar problems be occurring if I work in a 24p timeline on final cut and then render as 24p. Should I be creating a custom 23.98 timeline and rendering as 23.98 as well?

Just use the "current" setting for frame rate in the toast menu. you should have an easy set up in FCP for Pro res 24p so it will set up your timeline etc. automatically. I dont have FCP 6 so i"m not sure if it has a ProRes easy set up but I do know it has one for DVCPROHD 24p.

In FCP 6 when you use the ProRes easy set up for 720p/24 the sequence setting shows up as 23.98fps.

Did you have to make a custom setup for 720p/24?

Mine only has 1080/24

Can transcode out of Toast to DVCProHD 720/24p and have the frame rate hold?
