Got bored and wanted to try this out. Created a very very short clip of still footage with the DVX outside my house while the sun was setting across the neighborhood. Got a a few seconds at one exposure, then a few more seconds at another exposure, then blended them together. Rendering right now, footage posted momentarily. Check back in 5 minutes. :)

I saved my video footages in an external hard drive formatted in Mac. Now, I am trying to edit them in my Windows XP Laptop. When I connect the hard drive to the computer, it does not recognize it. Does anyone know what I could do for my computer to read or see these footages? I don't have my Mac laptop anymore. Your help would be higly appreciated!

Thanks

P.

I have kept messing with Quick Time and the rest of them suggested by a friend and nothing seems to work.

Thanks

Phil

Well, here's the footage: http://vimeo.com/2184036

And PHIL IHED, sorry to say I'm not much of a hardware guy and probably couldn't help you, also it seemed kind of random that you stuck that comment in this thread, I don't see a connection. I'd recommend putting this question in it's own hardware thread, or searching to see if anyone else has experienced this first.

Anyway everyone, comment if you like, I got a kick out of it.

Oh man! I thought you were going to actually rotoscope frame for frame on some movement! I've been waiting forever to see some moving HDR footage... but I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Looks good though, Anthony. Short, but good:Drogar-Love(DBG):

And if I had to guess, it looks like PHIL IHED is not familiar with internet forums and how they work. I would PM him and explain, but he'll probably never get the PM:crybaby::zombie_smiley:

just saw this thread and decided to pop in. Could one of u shed some light as to what HDR is? gracias :) Saw the footage but it really means nothing to me if i dunno what HDR is :)

High Dynamic Range. It's a technique often used in still photography (EXAMPLES: http://flickr.com/search/?q=hdr). You take a photograph at different levels of exposure, and composite them together, usually using the lightest area of an image from the darkest exposed version, and the darkest area of an image from the lightest exposed version, creating a sometimes surreal look.

"respeck" (Jamaican for thanks) :)

interesting stuff

Perfect, but you can use polarize filter to better dynamic range. Moving HDR is possible - there is some ways

-Export footage as the TGA image sequence to the photoshop and batch-render here your "HDR"
-One of the virtual Dub filters, i foget this name
-Master ped +7 and post-production
-Some gradient nd-filters and polarize
-Cinelike D gamma

Really, its ways to enlarge dynamic range, but no photo-hdr and it's right!
So, you can get 2 DVX on 1 tripod )))))))

Couldn't you shoot moving HDR with something like the Red that records is a RAW format?

I can do single-image HDR with RAW files by making one image bright and one image dark and then bringing it into an HDR program. It seems like there would be an easy way to do a batch process on something like this applied to each frame.

what kind of programs are people using now a days to rotoscope?

there needs to be an "easy" way we can do this with movement. When I do my HDR's in photography I usually take one raw file neutrally exposed and bring it in to lightroom and save 3 different exposures and merge them in photomatix. So what if you took the same clip, made 3 different exposures and placed them one on top of another, tweaking opacity accordingly?

I am going to give it a try.

Update: It didn't work at all as I planned. Does anybody know what exactly photomatix does? How it blends the images etc Could we somehow apply this to video? Granted tons of processing power would be required and there would be a bunch of noise but it be cool if we could get it to work.

Nice work, Anthony! Really pulled off a great exposure from that composite.

I still use AE, not that I do much of this stuff,,way too time consuming, unless you get plugins to assist.
