Canon 5D MKII - why not 60fps?

I'm new here. Trying to understand a limitation on the 5D MKII.

What I don't understand - is the fact that this DSLR only shoots 30p a hardware limitation or software limitation?

I mean, why is the Sony EX1 able to have a "bevy of output settings that lets users take advantage of fast and slow motion, as well as popular framerates such as the "film-like" 24p mode"??? Again, is this due to the EX1's hardware or software? Or both?

Please, someone enlighten me.

It only has 30p mode because if it had 24p mode, then nobody would buy any of canon's camcorders.

Because that is a huge amount of image to process.
That IS a full frame sensor.

Video cameras are tiny in comparison.
