Looking, Searching, Seeking, Finding...

Hey, everybody. Newbie here. I'm doing some homework on popular prosumer cameras and I'm most attracted to the DVX100. I'm about ready to take the next step and actually purchase one, but I'm confused.

I search for the best deals on sites like Amazon and find the camera that we all speak of for just over $2000 at certain stores (which sounds like a good deal). The thing is, these stores have VERY bad ratings as far as customer service goes (High pressure sales tactics when you are eventually forced to call in due to delays with shipping). I even read in one instance where someone got their camera with no cords, bateries, nothing. Just the camera.

In summation, I'd like to know where you folks would go to pick up a camera like this. Many thanks in advance.

It all depends on how much more you are willing to spend on reliability. www.bhphoto.com is probably one of the most reliable places to purchase anything. They are organized, professional, and speedy.

I bought my DVX from www.bwayphoto.com spent a good amount less then the listed price at BH and avoided buying anyting else from bwayphoto. Most companies want to nail you on accerssories. Buy your camera wherever, but then my reccomendation is to buy as much as you can from BHphoto minus the camera of course.

Be very careful when dealing with these sorts of vendors. They have bad ratings for a reason (and any good ratings are often forged by their employees). Personally, I think I'd be much happier spending $3k and getting everything I wanted, as opposed to spending $2k and getting ripped off. Then again, I've been known to let my penny-pinching get the best of me in the past...

Just be careful.
