Just saw it. Laughed all the way through it. Don't much care for Kevin Smith joints, but this was hilarious. They used an HVX to shoot the porno stuff too! The HVX footage looked pretty damn good on the big screen. Check it out.

What the hell happened to my post? I wrote a review and now it's gone! Nothing in it was the least bit inflammatory so I'm chalking it up to new server bugs.

I watched it opening night. I liked it but I found there were some slow moments but overall it was great. And if your familiar with the K Smith story you will notice a lot of similarities in this film with Kevins making of clerks. I think he is growing as a filmmaker and I think the next couple of films he does are going to be more serious and less dick and fart. I love the dick...and fart, but I would also love for him to make a serious flick.

Spoiler Alert...

I dont want to sound gay or anything, but the Jason Mewes penis...awesome.

I liked it. Laugh out loud funny at times. Not sure I buy a goddess like Elizabeth Banks having anything to do with Seth Rogen but she was very good. Her performance was almost better than the movie deserved. Another standout for me was Justin Long. He steals every scene he's in, and who knew his voice could go that deep? I also enjoyed Craig Robinsion, he's got a real career ahead of him. It's definitely Kevin Smith's best looking film. The cinematography was nice and the camerawork had some real fluidity to it, unlike Smith's usual style which is just point and shoot. An enjoyable but EXTREMELY raunchy diversion. If you get at all uncomfortable watching and hearing vulgarity in front of other people, you've been forewarned...and zergtherobot is a homo. :)

Fear not what you don't understand my boy.

I will agree with at least some of your post haha, it was the best shot of the Smith films, which I like because Clerks was both Kevin's first movie, as well as Mosiers first movie and Cinematographer David Klein's first movie. And wouldnt you know it, the band of brother is back again. David has deffinately formed a nice style to his work. I was going to ask what else he shot so I decided to do an IMDB search.

The results....

A gay secret.
HAhhahahhah

I love the fallic member.

I don't know about Ralph Klein's body of work, but I do know DAVID Klein shot smith's first three and last two films. and yeah, I dug the camerawork on Zack and Miri, especially

SPOILERS

When Zack goes to his bedroom with Katie Morgan's character, and the camera just slowly pulls back from Miri on the couch, into the hallway, with that great Pixies song playing (Pixies are my favorite band, and it was a real treat hearing one of my favorite Pixies songs "Hey")

I enjoyed the film overall. It was hilarious, and, as others have said repeatedly, Craig Robinson and Justin Long stole every scene they had. Jason Mewes was also great in his first non-Jay role in a Kevin Smith film, as Lester. I especially enjoyed this film, as it reminded me a lot of my favorite Kevin Smith film, Chasing Amy, in that it was very funny, but also had a lot of heart and emotion. I'm defiitely going to try and see it again while it's in theaters.

Really enjoyed this film. The Mac guy and Jason Mewes was the best in my opinion. Overall, a great comedy with a lot of heart. I went in there with Normal expectations and I was blown away...

I'm definitely getting this on DVD when it comes out, that's very rare for me to say after watching a film in Theaters, the last movie I bought on DVD was 300.

Anyway, good film.

yeah my post left too. as I said in in I dont know how I feel. Good movie, seth rogen and banks were great. writing was ok but I think its was much better actors than his usually joints. Also I feel like how good would have this been with out the apatow in company actors? I also feel like smith is trying to buy into their club....

I liked the film, thought it was full of funny moments.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

My only complaint is structural. "Three months later" is a bit of a rough interruption to the big climax of the movie (don't even attempt a pun there). It felt like things were JUST coming to a head and we suddenly cut away.

That said, it still made for a great theater movie, and a lot of fun, especially with an audience.

First off, it's "Zack and Miri"... not to be anal, but just to clear it up:)
Just went and saw it last night, and thought it was hilarious! Jason Mewes, althought only used by Smith, it a great comedic actor. Justin Long (the Mac guy) played a great role, as he usually does when he does cameos. (check out his cameo in Idiocracy) Seth Rogen is always great, although he always plays the same guy. Elizabeth Banks is gorgeous and is great as a 'not perfect woman'.
I thought the story had just enough sappy stuff to make you interested in the characters, but kept true to the fact that they were, well, making a porno. Smith is an excellent story teller, and loves his gross humor.
I'd love to see him work with these actors again... and did anyone else catch the preview for Fanboys??? OH YEAH!!!

I saw an article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/25/directors-try-to-leave-th_n_137885.html) recently that actually addressed this:

Mr. Smith's predicament is just one part of a larger problem facing many filmmakers in the field of R-rated comedy: It is nearly impossible for them to make their pot-smoking, breast-baring (but heartfelt!) movies without in some way encroaching on the raunchy (yet tender!) turf that Mr. Apatow already owns.

That was my second best part of the movie. Though I was pissed they didn't have no Date, it just said "Coming Soon" What kind of mess is that...

Well if they're finally showing the trailer in theatres and not just online anymore, then I'm assuming it's coming sooner than it was then...

Saw this tonight, wasn't as impressed as I think I would be, maybe I just need to see it again?

I heard the hype about how funny/gross it was, and both funny and gross weren't that funny and gross.

Some jokes were good, but this definitely could've been funnier.

It might not be for everyone... I personally left the theatre with no intentions of ever using the word "f*ck" again, because i'd just heard it about 300 times and it kind of lost it's sting, but I was laughing the whole time. I think Seth Rogen has a long career ahead of him in comedy, and Elizabeth Banks is perfect, as I love actresses who can look sexy but not be afraid to take a good ol' Chevy Chase fall. Just my opinion
