Does anyone know of a place to get a decent + *affordable* video editing desk? It should fit a fairly large 19" monitor, a 13" editing monitor, a couple speakers, a camcorder and give me a place to write as well. Someone referred me a "Jerker" desk from IKEA but i hate their low-quality crap and think it's fugly anyways. Anyone know of an alternative? Thanks!

Hey Dan

You can find some sweet ass deals on Companies going out of business and corporate sales.

Check out Saturdays Classifieds in the UT for ads.

Anthro cart are great, when you spend countless hours editing you will really love the versatility of these.

Well I've had a Jerker desk for about three years now, and it's pretty much perfect. I haven't had any quality issues, and it's got side shelves that swing in and out, and keeps the computer (used to be two) strapped onto a leg off the ground. The computer risen off the ground is almost at desk height, so I can put my palm dock and minidisc dock on it. Everything is within arms reach, and I've got a 21" and a 19" monitor in front of me, with plenty of lead space for a keyboard and Wacom tablet, and a small book / accessory shelf above. The shelf above or one of the swing-out shelves would be perfect for a broadcast monitor if I had one. Highly recommended.

Taylor: those anthro carts look really good. I think I'll be looking more into those. Bit pricey though. Thanks! ;D

Jumar: I was considering this desk and didnt mean to sound so negative about the JERKER , but everything i bought from IKEA in the past year is breaking down. My desk right now is held together by duct tape, my TV stand has developed cracks in it due to the weight of the TV (only about 60 pounds), drawers losing color, etc. etc. so i think i'll look elsewhere. I've heard great things about this desk so i might just give in if i cant find anything else *;D

dan, i might have been the one who referred you to the jerker. it has been holding up for me as well. i agree w/ you about ikea quality to a certain extent. some of their quality can be poor but not the jerker! i have 2 21" crt monitors on the hutch and my 13" jvc video monitor on the attached swivel. alot of people on the LAFCPUG have this desk and love it as well.
