Can you do "Print to Video" and output your sequence to video via firewire on the HF11 and canon's other Solid State Cameras the way I used to with MiniDV before I had a DVD burner? I don't have a Blu-Ray Burner and would like to watch muh stuff in HD.

the hf11 doesn't have a firewire port.

what you could do is buy yourself the correct hdmi cable, and plug that into your big screen tv... then playback the footage directly to the tv; you could also use the included component cable for that purpose.

is it possible to export in AVCHD and / or playback other formats (such as an HD quicktime) on the camera?

you mean like plug an sd card with quicktime on it into the hf11, and play it back through the camera? no, you can't do that... and the camera will not transcode into other formats.

the avchd data is written to memory in a rather complex folder/file structure that would be difficult to duplicate, and impossible to use with anything other than avchd.

i wrote up a canon vixia hf11 review (http://www.codectest.com/productreviews/canon-vixia-hf11-camcorder.html) that might be helpful with other aspects of this camera.

here is a great site on the hf10, which is very similar to the hf11:
