I'm using the MainConcept AVCHD to DVCPRO transcoder to test some of the .mts clips posted in the big thread. The conversion seems to work, but...
Why are all my 1080 24p/30i/60i .mts files converting to 1280x1080 dvcpro files? I thought it was supposed to be 1920x1080?

dvcpro hd codec is limited to 1280x1080 and uses a screen ratio of 1.33333 to get 16:9.

Got it; thanks! Is there a reduction in quality associated with this conversion? Is it typically imperceptible?

I haven't done any test comparing them so I can't tell, but I'm sure someone will chime in and answer.

I see a noticeable loss in horizontal resolution when playing back on a 1080 monitor, an increase in contrast, and a slight shift in color.
