We are happy to officially open the Twilight Fest 2008 Film Submission.

As stated in the original rules, the deadline for this festival will be October 27, 2008. The upload form will be deactivated at 11:00AM Pacific Time, Monday, October 27. No films nor revisions will be accepted after that time.

Eligibility Requirements:

The festival category is a short film, of any genre, with the theme of TWILIGHT (theme described in official rules thread).
All films must be no longer than 6 minutes TOTAL - INCLUDING ANY CREDITS.
All films must include the provided DVXUser Leader as the opening of their film (this leaders length does not count against your 6 minutes of running time). For more info or to download the leader, visit: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=149347
Required Element: All films must clearly include a BALL (as defined in the official rules thread) in at least one scene.
All cameras are eligible to participate and for prizes.
All films must be in English or be subtitled in English.
Delivered film must not exceed 50 MB.
Delivered film must be provided as an h.264 compressed file (either .mov or .mp4).
Film must be an "R" rating, or lower.
Filmmaker must have proper copyright clearance for all material contained in the entry.
Films must be made between July 15th, 2008 and October 27th, 2008 and must not be publicly screened prior to entry.
Films must not have been promoted anywhere, other than DVXUser, prior to completion of festival screening.
Entrants must grant DVXuser.com and its agents non-exclusive rights for their films to appear on a potential DVXFest DVD or for DVXuser-sanctioned public screenings.
Films may be entered in other festivals provided they don't screen prior to October 27th, 2008.

How To Submit

Create an h.264 compressed file, 50MB or less.
Name the file as follows: <DVXuser_name>_<film_name>.mov (e.g. LarryR_MyTimeFestFilm.mov).
<Optional> Create a poster - preferably a PNG or JPG file, named the same as the film.
Point your browser to: http://www.dvxfest.com/upload (http://www.dvxfest.com/upload)
Fill out the form.
There are two file fields, one for the film (required) and one for the poster (optional).
Click "Begin Upload".

If you need to submit a revised version of your film, please send it via the upload form and then send me a PM to let me know it's coming. The system takes care of marking the new version so I know which one it is, even if you re-upload multiple times. Just be aware that once the cutoff occurs you can no longer send newer versions of your film.

Other Info

All submitted films will undergo review by the DVX Festival board for adherence to the posted rules.
Any films not in 100% compliance will be rejected and the filmmaker will be notified.
Rejected films will be allowed the opportunity to re-submit a revised film that meets the requirements up to the posted deadline.
Important All winning entrants will have their prize shipped to them via the address provided on the upload form, so please be sure to include your correct address!

Thanks,
Larry

Filmmaker must have proper copyright clearance for all material contained in the entry.

I understand this, but what does clearance means?
Do I need a signature form or something from a guy who composed the music etc?
Or is it simply a formal statement, so that is clear that there's no copyright violation in any case?(if I'm not mistaken one film was removed on the last fest because of this right?)

(I'm not too good with English, so some statements confuses me, especially if there's some sarcasm included)

Man, I better get back to editing!!!

All this means is that you have to have proper rights to use the content (music, images, video, etc) within your entry. You don't have to provide proof to us when you submit, but if there is some question as to the validity of the content then you need to be prepared to show proof that you have the right to use the content.

Hope that helps,
Larry

Larry R, any recommended size (or range and/or limitation there of) for the optional posters? (dimensions, not file size)

Simon Höfer
10-25-2008, 02:58 PM
You should scale it down to something around 700x1000.

Will there be a personal page for every film again Larry?

Finished the movie, nothing better than 17 hour maraton of editing. :D
Just one q, what am I supposed to write in 'mailing adress' textbox?
I'm a little slow(er) right now, and I don't want to get disqualified because of something like that. : )

Thanks.

EDIT: Jesus I'm a genius, really. -_- Figured it out, nvm.

Congrats!

Your mail address of your house. If you win something, so they can send it to you.

I figured that out later. In one moment I thought I need to write some kind of formal letter stuff, like, ''Dear Sirs, regardless of my novice status here, I'm wiling to take part in this fest also...'' Oh, the PAIN.

Uploading finished...need some sleep...and I'm happy to see so many promising entries.

Can't wait to watch them all!

hey, so perhaps someone can answer this for me as soon as they upload... what is the screen it has right after it says "upload complete"... it changes to something else and when it did my firefox crashed. I want to make sure its not something that my browser had to still be open for...because when I restarted firefox and it brought all my crashed tabs up again... all it said was "files uploaded successfully"... I'm just really paranoid and want to make sure everything got through all right. If the upload is messed up, will they let me know and give me a chance to upload the same file again even if its past deadline? Oi vey, it can never be easy can it?
