I want to see this too. I love the part where they tell him Seagal got the part. "He promised he'd cut off the ponytail."

saw this last night. I have to say it was one entertaining film. The thin line between fact and fiction was well molded to make a fascinating story. Emotionally driven and if you were a fan, then you can't help but to identify with Jean-Claude.
It's probably his best yet... in a weird, well timed, sort of way.
But yeah, Van Damme can definitely do drama.

I'm confused here. Is it narrative or documentary?

Drama/mocumentary I would say. I will be watching it very soon.

I enjoyed this a lot.
I have to say though, coming out around the wrestler and milk is roughhhhh.
Just saw this. It was a surprisingly enjoyable "movie".
It takes guts (or someone to have hit rock bottom) for someone to put his name on a film that basically makes a mockery- albeit a sympathetic one- of their life.
Here's a bold statememt: "The monologue" will be part of cinema history. I normally don't make this sort of pretentious claims, but the fact is that's the only way I can describe that moment, because it is a pioneering cinema moment that will be very difficult to follow in such a genuine way, due to one of a kind situations that have to do with the 80' ies and 90'ies Hollywood genre films and its larger than life screen Heroes (which includes Van Damme) and the particularly cliched, yet cinematical real life of the main lead of this movie - it worked here, because, well, Van Damme the Superstar, the actor, blended with Van Damme the man- the human being, for 3 minutes. And he bares "all" to the only confident/partner he has been consistent with his life- Cinema, or the camera, and the film audience- the audience that is used to see Van Damme the superman, the Hero. He confronts us, he takes us out from the movie magic and the image of his media character that floats in our minds, the image of the Muscles from Brussels, of the brainless martial artist, the loser that mumbles funny things on TV interviews, and whatever else gossip there is, and makes us "see" something else- Van Damme, the man- the human. In that moment, in those 3 minutes, Van Damme is not a character anymore, but a person . This is a brilliant concept, and well explored by the director.
This moment/scene elevates the film from entertaining spoof with a bit of over the top melodrama, to Cinema with capital C.
Well worth a watch.
