Hi is it just me or is there someone else who thinks like me.
I just sold my beloved DVX (miss it already) to buy the HMC but, after looking at some footage before making my mind I think that the picture strobes too much, you would not notice this on the DVX. Another thing is the picture looks so digitally.
Can please someone says something bad about this camera. If there is!!
I want to hear some truth guys, not because you own the camera then you just see the good side of it.
Shall I buy it or shall I wait for HMC-150 BE with some updates. I think it wount take long to see the market.

Thanks
Love the panasonic don't get me wrong!

I own the 150 and yes there are things about it I dont like. I raised some beefs about it in my assesment of the cam:
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=150210

there are also things about it I love. Dont judge the footage based on individual user settings or vimeo clips which can alter the image. I have mine set at a standard 1/48 shutter, and to my eye it is no more stroby than my old DVX set at 1/48.

On the other note, you might find yourself waiting for a long time for the updated model of anything- as there will always be something better coming out. :)

have you hooked the camera up to a hdtv or just watching clips on vimeo etc.?

i was thinking the same thing at one point just watching clips online but i just hooked my 150 up to a 720p hdtv just with the component cable and thought its much better than the dvx.i didnt think it looked strobey or digital just really clean dvx style footage. havent shot much with it much yet but i was really impressed with the footage. i think its an awesome camera so far.

Thanks for the feedback!
Yes I am lookig at vimeo since there is not so much footage on the web yet and that can alter the image.
Feeling much better now, couse I really want this camera.

Keep in mind that Vimeo always plays back HD footage at 24p, even if it the clip says its 60i/60p... so it will likely strobe with any fast pans or shots that go against the guidelines you follow not to get strobing in 24p. The picture is still very much like the DVX but way sharper. To me, the sharper picture makes strobing a little more apparent in 24p, but the rules are the same, I'll take the sharper picture and be careful. As mentioned above, you can soften the picture by messing with the settings.

Also, Vimeo compresses the picture really bad. I know they say it is 1280x720, but it rarely looks that sharp and blocks to hell with movement. The 150 looks better even at its lowest bitrate.

Okej,
I bought the 151 now.
What I can say is that it is so GREAT. What a sharp picture. I just been in london filming the famous old MR Bond, Roger Moore and could feel the camera inside out. Sorry about the footage but it is private at the moment and I cannot show any.
What I am waiting for now is that AVID will support this format so I can just import directly and not have to convert to DVCPro.
Hi, Via. If you mean the camera mic, yes it is the same as the DVX but I guess that it is better quality in sound than the DVX.
