It was that terrible. Plot holes galore, a lame, lame story about mirrors... It was like someone saw "The Ring", "The Grudge" and "the Omen", and made a salad of these movies. Add to that an M Night Shyamalan like "twist" that makes no sense at all at the closing stages, and you've got the most cliché'd, absurd, predictable horror movie of this year.

And what about the gore? it was absolutely NON SENSICAL and gratuitous- those are some of the most gruesome deaths "captured" on film- but they just happen for no apparent reason if not for the eye "candy".

And the worst thing is that this film takes itself seriously- to the point of 24 Hero "Jack Bauer" having to show dramatic acting in scenes where supposedly something dramatic was happening- notice the "supposedly".

And what about the writting? Yes, its even worse. Thae script, excluding the major plot holes and complete idiocity, seems to be written to sound "realistic". And how do they do that? Use the word "f*ck" repeatedly, in certain dramatic scenes- And almost randomly. All in all, the worst experience I had in the movies for a while. Compared to this, even the Happening is a better movie.

I wouldn't say it's the best but it's not the worst neither. I enjoyed it.

Saying it was the WORST this year is a little outrageous. I agree that it had it's holes, and some of it was a little over the top. But the movie as a whole wasn't the worst. It's worth seeing.

it's Alexander Aja doing a US remake of Asian horror, Aja and Asian horror dont mix as hes a gore hound and a lot of Asian horror is more psychological anyways.

Also Aja is Hit and miss...or in my case, miss, miss, miss. Sorry 'Haute Tension', 'Hills have eyes' and 'Mirrors' fans, i LIKE's having good story script and stuff. relying on Gore instead of atmosphere and tension is so Eli Roth.

Well, when I said worst, obviously I was taking into consideration only the movies I've seen this year.
The director is taleented? Yes, he is. He probably is a great artist in therms of composition, but that's also his flaw: you could see that every single scene he seems like he's showing off his cinematography and use of effects. The script seems way more humble and " realistic" than the director's shooting style- the "action" is completely over the top, which completely pulls you out of the realism of the script. in fact, there's no mistery here: Right when the movie starts you already know the "killer". Then troughout the next hour and a half, you're just seeing a non sensical torture of the "hero".

I sincerely think that its a passable, and terrible horror movie.
