Are actors allowed to list their credit in a dvxuser fest movie on their web site before the screening?

i dont see why not, they worked on it, they have the right to list it, its not a promotion or the film, its a promotion for themselves.

I always tell my actors to wait till it is uploaded and after the voting takes place. Then they can post the film too.

thanks for the comments - I was hoping to get a mod ruling so I can give my cast the straight scoop.

They only have a few days to wait. The mods are here just to stop political threads from starting up. LOL

You might PM Larry or one of those guys. That might tell you something. But I don't think they really want anything oustide of here. I always thought it would be ok to saying something with a link to DVXusers,,,,but I don't know for sure.

someone posted about their DP posting clips on a blog, and while the mods were not happy they knew it wasn't the filmmaker promoting it.

If it the resume is posted where it's publicly viewable and it names the film that would be considered outside promotion.

Is it a huge deal? No. We would just tell you to tell her to take it down. You have to be flagrant and ignore requests to cease and dissist to get DQued for outside promotion.

Also. Is putting a DVXuser film on her resume really gonna land her that gig with Spielberg this week rather than two weeks from now?

So yeah it would be considered outside promotion, but only technically and would not be a big deal if you try to get her to take it down.

I had to tell Blanchard Ryan that she couldn't put the Cold Calls poster and a Link to our thread on her Facebook page yesterday.

Jack, thanks for taking the time to clarify this.

wait, what is this about? I dont get it. I worked on a Twilight film and I immediately put it on my resume, as I do with every production I work on. I didn't mention that it is part of a competition but if someone looks up the title then they might find it.

Does this mean I shouldnt mention to people the film? Do you want only dvx users to view the films?

Please clarify, I dont want to do anything to endanger their qualification.

The old rule was made in order to help avoid ballot stuffing. The new rules state that you must be a current Member with at least 50 posts in order to vote, and/or the filmmaker of the entry itself is also allowed to vote, regardless of post count.

With the new rules in place the old rule should be tossed. There's really no reason why we shouldn't be allowed to discuss our work publicly and also point others to the Festival here. Seems like a win-win to me.

I've heard that the old rule will probably be tossed out the door eventually. They just need to discuss the details further.

Hopefully by next Fest?

You can put it on your resume after the festival is over, just not before then.
