what codec is everyone using to get the best ouput quality/size ratio in Vegas 8? i tried the ffdshow h264 codec and it was too big. im confused a little. thanks for the help

I guess it depends on what you want to do with the rendered file. I used lagarith for uncompressed transfer to After Effects. For output to Vimeo, I use QT Photo JPEG at 90% or greater.

yep, vimeo style. What about to a dvd, what would you use then?

Render as standard mpeg2 widescreen progressive.
