I have a shot of a car parking, and the camera is in front, so we can see the front end coming to a stop.

I want to add a couple dents to it, using just AE.

Is this possible? And If so, how would I do this.

The puppet tool? It's really finicky because I would have to draw a mask around the part I want to dent, then somehow 3D track that, then mesh it with the puppet tool.

Let me know!

Thanks,

Robbie

You might be able to track a displacement map to the bumper to make it look lumpy etc., but that's going to be tough to get it to look real. You might almost want to shoot a dented bumper and track that on to get it to look more real?

unless you can tack on some painted stills, you are best off just denting the cheapest parts of the car. Weigh a fender cost vs your hours toward faking it and I bet you'll find it's much cheaper to swap a 90 dollar fender.
