The P2 workflow I was used to involved the dump drive and then dump to the mac. Is there another solution to dump the P2 cards without having to use the camera itself?

Thanks.

Computer with PCMCIA slot. Dell, Apple Powerbook (not MacBook Pro).
Panasonic 5 card reader and computer. But $2k.
P2 Gear and bus powered USB drives. - but this is also expensive ($4500)

P2 cards wont work with macs with this one.

You can find used G4 15" aluminum powerbooks on ebay for under $400. It may be a bit beat, but it would work perfect for what you want. I'm going to pick one up in the next few weeks.

you didn't say about the laptop. my duel adaptor works great with my Dell XP laptop. dump cards to a USB drive, then move the drive over to my Mac Pro when I get home. or if I'm shooting for someone else, I just use their drive.

I should mention, I also verify the footage with P2 Viewer before erasing the card.

hope you find a solution that works for you.
