I shot a static shot that's supposed to take place in the early evening, (6pm or so), but the alarm clock in the background(!!!) reads 9:10. Is there an easy way to black out the numbers in AE later? It won't look conspicuous from so far back.
Thanks!

Don't black out the numbers... flip that 9 upside down, make it 6:10.
Since the shot is static, its a simple case of duplicating the shot, masking out the 9, feather it a bit and rotate about 180 degrees.

One more thing. I shot HDV 1080 24p and captured into FCP as ProRes HQ. How should I export the clip to bring into AfterEffects? After I've made the adjustments, how should I export out to bring the shot back into FCP?
Obviously I'm just trying to retain maximum picture quality.
Thanks!

I'm not a mac guy, but can't you use the prores HQ codec in AE? If not export at uncompressed .MOV but you should export as few times as possible to maintain highest quality. For the export from AE, go uncompressed .MOV or you could do a .PNG or .TIFF image sequence. It won't be real time but you shouldn't actually drop it in until your ready for the final render.

I went ahead and did the work within Final Cut, but I'll have to mess with After Effects sooner or later, so thanks again!
