I did something really stupid. I removed the battery when my HVX-200 was recording and now there is a clip with a red X when I switch the camera to VCR.
Final Cut Pro says "media format not recognizable" or something like that. I don't have it here at work so I won't know for sure until I get home.
Does that mean that I lost the clip that I was recording at that moment?
Help! :(

Hi,
I wouldn't like to bet on if the file is salvageable but I think there is one thing you could try. I believe the HVX 'closes' a clip every so often so that if this sort of thing happens a portion of the clip should be usable. I think (although I have never used it) there is a function in the camera menu that allows you to repair a damaged clip. I think that if a clip hasn't been 'closed' properly the camera adds the missing end tag or something to make the clip whole.

I'm not quite sure where I got this info from or if I dreamt it up. Maybe it's on Barry's video or in the manual somewhere.

You might be able to restore this if you have the footage on the card. Open it back up in the camera VTR and find and select the repair clip option. I've had similar things and nothing has worked except to get it onto the camera and do it in there.. but you might have some look with that P2 log program or such 3rd party pieces if it's very important
