Hi Friends,

I was wondering if you could weigh in on something. I'm going to be making a trip with my HVX200. I'll be carrying it in my CineBag (CB-22 - the one with the cheesy dragon on it!)

Naturally, since this is the first traveling I'll be doing with my baby, I'm a little worried. How does airport security usually react to a camera like this? I want to keep it as my carry-on, but I'm just worried if they'll have any kind of problem with it. What have your experiences been like?

Thanks!

I fly all the time with my DVX and have never had a problem with security. Now and then they pull my pelican case aside to look at everything closer, but it's never been more than a couple minutes and I'm on my way. I don't think you'll have any camera issues with security.

Be sure to carry on your batteries with you. (Don't check them!)

Also, bring documentation (that you should have got with your batteries) that lists their lithium content.

Make sure (at least) one battery is charged so that you can power on your camera if asked to do so. Other than that, regular travel sence is all you'll need.

If it is in a carry on it usually goes pretty smooth. They will make you XRAY the camera in a separate bin. So be prepared to take the cam out of the bag and send it through the machine.

I've travelled with my HVX a few times this year and never once had an issue.
I never even had someone take a 'closer look' at the camera.
Sent it through the Xray and waited everytime for someone to pull me aside... never happened.

Don't worry about it much.
you'll be fine.

What everyone else said. I've taken mine on as a carry on in my Pelican 1510 without so much as a whisper.

and if for some reason the plane is out of overhead space (not like that ever happens, haha) pull your camera out and put it under your seat and let them check the bag below. I'll tell you what, airport security aint nothing compared to the Secret Service...

Never a problem with multiply trips this year, although Australia did snag my allen wrenches for the Brevis unit a few weeks ago. I debated with the people for a while and the lady gave me one to keep, the rest went into the "say good by" bin. Made me mad...
