I've run into a problem with Vegas and an HMC150 clip. I hope someone can see if they have the same problem.

Today I shot some 720 60p and loaded it onto a 720 24p timeline in Vegas. My RAM preview was set to the 128Mb default. I added a 40% velocity envelope to my clip and rendered a small section. Toward the end of the render there was some serious jitter. You can look at the clip here (http://www.vimeo.com/1958008).

By trial and error I determined if I increased the RAM preview memory allocation to the max allowed (639Mb on my PC), it rendered correctly.

I've submitted a bug report to Sony but would like to know if anyone else can duplicate this problem.

In case anyone else runs into this problem Tim over in the Sony Vegas forum came up with a workaround. Instead of using the Velocity envelope, you can set the playback rate to 0.4 and achieve the desired result in this case. This approach rendered correctly.

That sucks.. what if you want to use varied velocity envelope? Are other ppl having this problem? Are you editing AVCHD natively or did you convert first?

My God! I hope the golfer is ok! That looks really awful. But at least there is a solution. Thanks for your post.

The golfer has sworn off coffee.

Unfortunately, although setting the frame rate to 0.4 worked for my short segment, it fell apart when I then rendered the entire 25 minute clip. It was continuous jitters from start to end. There is definitely a problem here. I am assuming it is Vegas, but I suppose it could be an HMC150 problem. I've submitted a bug report to Sony.
