I have an old tape that was recorded on a Canon GL-1 in "frame mode". I'm having a hard time getting it into FCP. I have other tapes from other cameras from the same shoot that capture fine. (Using sony TRV-11 as a deck) But this particular tape, the audio cuts in and out when I play it....which is ok, i dont need the audio. The video displays fine when played in the TRV-11. But capturing, FCP captures 3 seconds and then says "there was an error on the tape" or something to that affect.

I've tried everything I can think of, but just recently found it was recorded in frame mode on a GL1. Would the fact I'm playing this tape in a sony without this frame mode option have anything to do with this? AFAIK, frame mode was simply an interlacer of sorts where both fields of the frame were from the same full frame source so there was no time shift between the fields. So this should not change anything on the tape other than the video content itself. no?

TIA!

try setting your capture presets to dv 30p instead of regular dv60i
