AIM SESSION Sign Up Sheet.

The AIM sessions will return. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the AIM sessions, we started them for the last festival. It's a running stream of commentary over AIM (or ichat, or Adium, or whatever instant messaging client we are using) while we watch your film. I think Jack Daniel Stanley described it best when he compared it to MST3k for DVXuser festivals. Here is an example from last fest:

That being said, these sessions have been described as pretentious, snarky, and my favorite - too cool for school. We will make fun of the most asinine details of your film, and if we can't find anything wrong with your film, like a politician, will immediately revert to personal attacks, like "Mark Harris' hair smells like a wet dog" or "Don't trust Norm Sanders, he lives really close to Canada". But in the end, we will try to offer some constructive criticism to make it worth your time.

We experienced a giant failed experiment last festival by not asking before we did some of these, so, to avoid that mistake, AIM sessions will be done BY REQUEST ONLY, and will be done in order of requests on this thread. Please only request a session if you are certain you will finish a film for twilightfest.

I was kind of fed up with my own casual "hey good job" reviews, and so I decided to start getting creative with the films. In the past, I'd always sit down with a college buddy, my gf (now fiance) or someone else and watch 6+ hours of movies, but now that we're all grown-ups, we're on opposite ends of the county or otherwise not able to do so.

My solution was to simultaneously watch the films while chatting over messenger about them. It gives you a review, and first impression, and hopefully some humor all at once.

That ... and I get to be sarcastic about your film WITH your permission!

Ha, the Umlauts (äöü) :) On a PC you can hold down "Alt" and press "148" on the numpad :D on a Mac it's option u, then o = ö.

Or you can copy it from somewhere else. Or just write Hofer or Hoefer. In germany we got a special keyboard, with dedicated keys for those letters :D
