We have been putting the HVX to the test in the action sports environment and must say it has been making the cut. We initially had to dial in some detail settings, coming from the film world we wanted to achieve a more film like look with the footage which I feel we came as close as we could. Most of the examples here are not color corrected and are essentially mini updates with X-Games Gold Medalist Simon Dumont. I recomend the JOSS video if you only have time for 1...

Please feel free to lend any advice, comments, sarcastic praise etc...

Beautiful stuff man. Very Warren Miller-ish. What scene settings did you use? Frame rate? shutter speed? Keep up the good work!

all footage (except timelapse) shot in 720-24pn as we are mostly shooting variable frame rates (24-60).
shutter @ 180 in Film mode
color kept neutral/Cine D
The secret is in the detail levels...

If there is anything the HVX's high variable frame rates is perfect for, it's action sports. I've been shooting skateboarding with my any vx1000 (which is also an amazing SD camera for action sports) for the past 5 years, and I just ordered my HVX200a this week, and I can't wait!

We've been shooting football, basketball, track/field, volleyball, and national figure skating, etc.

720/24pn over 60 is a fabulous acquisition.

Obviously not unlike all other cameras this HVX shoots best in good light, low light looks like... well film shot in overcast light... also known as shit. With good light and a nice piece of glass HVX footage is looking a lot like 16mm, at least what the 16mm that would come out of my old Arri SB package looked like.

Anyone have any ideas on a somewhat affordable, action sports friendly lens configuration? Any other cheap additions that people working in outdoor action sports have made are welcome...

Anyone used micro-dolly? Would it stand up to the abuses of action sports?

are you talking about 35mm adapters?

I shoot skiing with the redrock and it's a bit tough at first, but once you get it down you can do some really unique stuff with it.

Sweet, RedRock what are putting in front of it? Got any footage I can scope?

Anyone tried any other units? I know there is a ton of back and forth babble about these adapters. Anybody got the straight talk?
