We just got new computers w/ Adobe Production Premium CS3 installed and I've installed the driver for the Panasonic AJ-PCD20, but I'm still unable to see the media on the P2 cards. The card reader shows up in "My Computer" but when I click on it it starts to install the drivers and then I get an error message thaat the wizard was interrupted before panasonic P2 Drivers coud be completely installed.

The computer is a Dell T7400 w/ Intel Xeon quad-core processors @ 3 Ghz running XP Pro x64 with 8 GB of Ram and an 800 GB Hard Drive.

I've also have the P2 Viewer installed. I can see that there is media on the P2 cards, but can't play the media with the viewer.

Any help will be much appreciated. If I wasn't already bald, I'd of pulled out all of my hair.

Upgrade Premiere Pro to 3.2 by going to Help > Updates.

Premiere Pro CS3 got the ability to read and edit DVCPro HD in version 3.1, so Premiere Pro CS3 cannot edit your footage without updating Premiere Pro to 3.2.

Roger, the problem isn't with Premiere, but with the computer in general. Any thoughts?

O.k! :)

How is the Panasonic AJ-PCD20 connected, FireWire or USB? If FireWire, try to connect it via USB or vice versa. That may solve the issue.

I have had similar issues with external HDD's. When connected to FireWire the data rate is very slow compared to the data rates if i connect the same external HDD to USB. On some computers it is the other way around, slow data rates with USB and higher data rates with Firewire. I have never been able to figure out why...

Maybe the most important question: Is XP Pro x64 a supported OS with the Panasonic AJ-PCD20?

It's connected via USB. I'll need to research the XP Pro x64 compatibility issue. Thanks.

Turns out that the computer was incorrectly naming the drives of the P2 card reader. A tech renamed the drives...works like a charm.

"P2 Driver Software doesn't support Windows XP x64(64bit)."
Refer https://eww.pavc.panasonic.co.jp/pro-av/support/cs/csregistp2m/ep2main/pcdriver_e.htm

I installed Avid MC V3 on a HPXW8600 XP Pro64.
Then tried to install the P2 Driver Software for Windows XP/Vista(32bit) from the above link and it did not install.
I then connected a AJ-PCD20 USB2 and it worked fine may be the drivers came with the Avid install ??
The OS recognized the product correctly.
