It's not working.

I made a project in AE and I want to send it to Final Cut with a transparent background.

Did a google search and found a lot of sites (even this one) with the solution, but it's still not working.

I go to render queue.

Then I go to Output module. I turn on the audio. Channels is set to alpha. Format options is Animation (I even tried the intermediate one)

and when I export it, it either turns out black and white, or the black is still there. I take it into final cut just to check but it doesn't work.

I use the premulitplied one as well.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Robbie

Sounds like you are doing the AE part right. I don't use FCP that much I cut on Avid but I know in Avid when I import something I have to specify if it has a alpha and how I want to import it.

Have you checked import settings within fcp? Seems like their should be a option. As a test export still frame of it into Photoshop or bring it back to AE see if it has its alpha intact.

Photoshop to FCP works fine. Just AE doesn't.

I figured out what to do.

File-Export-Quicktime Movie.

Then once its finished, IT STILL won't let me put it into FCP. How do I solve this? Pretty weird I tell
you.

I just take the MOV file and export the same thing on top of itself, and then it works.

are you sure your settings are at millions+ for color rather than just millions ... the + means its writing the alpha channel in.
