I need to reformat a AJ-P2C004HG 4gb (I believe it is the first of the P2 cards) P2 card to a HVX200b camera. Then reformat the card back to the original HVX200.

Is that possible?

A friend of mine reassured me that it is possible but I wanted to ask dvxuser.

I put an original 4 gig P2 card that was formatted in my HVX-200 into my HPX-170 and it works fine.
The format hasn't changed at all.

Now the firmware for the HVX-200 has to be updated to read the larger cards.. It came out long before 16 gig cards came out. So it couldn't read 16 gig cards without being updated. But as far as the P2 cards themselves, the format is the same.

There's only one P2 card format, whatever the P2 camera.

The thing is when I would put a newer 16gb P2 card the original HVX200, the camera would display "incompatible P2 card." So I figured the 4gb P2 card would have the same problem with my newer HVX200a.

That's due to the original HVX200 needing a firmware update. The 4 Gb will work in any P2 camera just as it is.

And that's because the P2 card's hardware configuration changed with the 16 GB cards; it's not because the formatting changed. Just to be clear.
