Does anyone know how to get (or if it is even possible to get) IMDB credit for work done on shorts, ie: Twilight Fest entries?

Has to be in a film festival and publicly screened... DVX (nor any online viewing or availability) does not count...

Yea, you'll have to get your film accepted into a publicly screen festival that is recognized by IMDb. Online only festivals, like DVX Fest, are not accepted by IMDb.

Also, the other day Blaine told me that IMDb has revised their list of accepted film festivals and several festivals that once were "accredited" are no longer. Generally, IMDb requires that, to receive credit, the festival has to have a selection process whereby acceptance is not automatic. I do know that Barry is working to try and get a DVXUSER festival acceptable not only for IMDb, but also as a qualifying festival for the Academy (wouldn't that be cool if one of our members won an oscar for a DVXUSER short?)
Speaking of the Oscars, we saw a short last night at Gary Graham's house that is going to be in competition. It was really a stunningly good piece that would have fit well in the Twilight Fest.

I never understand how that works. Somehow Herman submitted one of my films and it got on. I thought it might have been because of the Sci-Fi Channel screening we had, but I thought IMDB happened way before that...

There were a couple films from our fests that made it through early on, but IMDb quickly caught on and began eliminating films that only had dvxuser as it's sole screening.
Forget the Academy and the Oscars ... let's make our own. The DVX Cafe Awards and the winners get a very tall statue affectionately known as the Jarred

Dude, I would love a Jarred Statue.
I still have the Fat Monster Ice Crystal for TimeFest and I plan on hiking to the north pole this winter and seeing if it will make me a fortress of solitude. Give the fact that it comes from Fat Monster, I suspect it has some secrets...

Hmm ... I'm thinking we might not want to unleash those secrets :D

I was working on a concept for just this and then got sidetracked with other work.
Indie producers would submit works in various categories that would be viewed and voted on.
The awards 'show' would be live, online with webcams & mics for up to 2,000 people and recorded for viewing later.
I'd be willing to reopen the concept if people were interested and get sponsors etc.
I just checked and Godaddy has dropped three of the 4 domains that I had for this concept.
Once again this morons screwed up. I think I can get two of the three domains back.
I HATE GODADDY!!!!

yeah - TV screenings usually make a film eligible for IMDb too. As long as there's independent confirmation on the web (article, review, festival or tv channel page) that the screening will happen, they'll mostly accept the title.

So if we made the top 8 in the last fest and it was publicly sen we may have a chance to get it in on imdb?

No, it has to be an IMDB approved festival. Currently DVXFest is not on the approved list because it is an online only festival.
Hopefully we can get that changed in the future, but for now you'll have to find out what festivals are accepted by IMDB for inclusion and then enter those fests.

your film does not HAVE to be in a festival or publicly screened. that is one way to do it, but i've gotten each of my films listed before they were in festivals. two still aren't even finished yet. in fact, they were listed before we went into production.
here's how I did it... the secret was to get an article written about them on a high profile site. in our case, we had profiles on our actors written up at Backstage.com that mentioned our new film. and we submitted that link with our "new title" submission to IMDB under "misc link". do that and a week later, you'll be up and running.
my IMBD profiles
HEART OF NOW (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0960067/) <- still listed as in post-production
WHITE KNUCKLES (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0942906/)

I was never able to add my other films to imdb.com. They were put automatically and I tried many ways.....all my recent work since 2000 has not been added anymore only stuff from the 90s....weird...I even made me an account and tried all sorts of things....I would be interested too...

i asked them to do a profile on how we cast the lead actor using backstage.

Great info Zak. ... We did have Blaine try to use the DVXUSER screening at Cinespace to qualify but the bastards at IMDb got wise to the ploy. We did get Where The Heart Lies qualified via the ActionOn film fest and O2 screened in Louisville so we got credits for them. The ActionOn festival has been very kind to DVXUSERs and has really upgraded this past year. If you're interested in qualifying I'd definitely encourage you to submit to the AOF fest.
