I finally got around to tweaking one of my green screen examples. My workflow for this was: 720p AVCHD in Vegas 8.0c -> render to Lagarith lossless -> After effects 7.0 -> Keylight keyer -> Added light wrap.
See the results (http://www.vimeo.com/1900735).

I can make the full rez vid later today, but it will be large.
Here are links for a 1080 (http://jewellhome.net/hmc/Green1080.png)and a 720 (http://jewellhome.net/hmc/Green720.png) unkeyed green clip. Can you compare to 4:2:2 footage?

Kurtmo,
Forgive me if this is a stupid question but i'm a newbie with this technology. Anyway, my question is, I'm a PC user (not sure what you run on, but how would I get native footage from say, Vegas, into after effects? Would i have to transcode the footage, hence losing some quality? thanks in advance.

I run on PC and move data between Vegas and AE frequently. For keying and other work where quality is paramount, I render out of Vegas to a lossless codec. I used to use QT (.mov) and the animation codec. That is lossless, so it zero quality loss, but HUGE files. More recently, I've been rendering out to lagarith codec in an avi container. The file size is much smaller and it is still lossless. A problem I've bumped into is that AE 7.0 doesn't recognize 1080p Lagarith files correctly. 1080 Lagarith files show up as thousands of colors instead of millions. Works fine for 720p files.

Kurt - looks flawless! Like Bob, I'd like to see a Hi Res screen shot as well to see the detail at hi-zoom.
What is light wrap? Some sort of software back light to separate/lift from the background?

I can't believe this camera! I really need to see how far it can be pushed in post... cause it looks so clean, unbelievable camera.

Hey Kurtmo, downloaded the lagarith codec but can't seem to find it anywhere within Vegas ( not too familiar with the program). When I go to render the given file, i have save file type as *.avi and below under the templates, i would have assumed to find the lagarith codec listed here but it's not. any ideas how i would apply this codec to the program? thanks.

Light wrap is light that "wraps" around the subject/keyed object. It helps an image blend into the scene. Typically, it is faked in green screen work to get the background color around the image to spill onto the subject.
Here is an example with light wrap:

Bob,
Can you compare the images in this post (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showpost.php?p=1425660&postcount=4)to your 4:2:2 image you posted. I'd do it my self, but i don't have the original 4:2:2 green screen footage you posted.
Thanks,
Kurtmo

Hi kurtmo. I downloaded your raw greenscreen files. I must say I'm very impressed with the HMC. Currently I have a dvx but I when I upgrade it will certainly be a HMC 150.
I used Panasoncis free transcoder to transcode the avchd files. Then used AE to pull the key with keylight and built a lightwrap in AE as well.

I guess it would of been more effective with a before/after video...

Nice work with the key! And your other work is well done, too. Seems we've been heading down a similar path.
